9 weeks down!

It is hard to believe that I have been training for my triathlon for 9 weeks now.  It seems like just yesterday I was unable to run a full lap around the track!  Seriously it was SAD!

I am up to 4 miles of mostly running and walking in an hour.  I found out my body can survive a run right after an hour of swiming.  I can survive a run right after a 90 minute cycle ride!  I continue to get stronger each week and it feels good!

Each workout I am reminded of my Dad, family, and friends that struggled with with cancer.  It wasn't easy for them.  So I swim, ride, and run for them. It isn't anywhere near as hard as what they had to deal with but it is my way of fighting back against cancer.

I am frundraising for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society in my Dad's memory  I ask for you help by donating to my fundraising efforts.

Donations can be made securely to my fundraising page below.

Simply CRAPPY

What a week!
Probably one of the worst work weeks in a LONG TIME and a CRAPPY training week! When I started this blog I was feeling pretty strong and successful in my training. It seemed like I took 10 steps backward!
Saturday's ride was about 20 miles and I was huffing and puffing! WHAAAT?? When my legs felt tired in the first 5 minutes and that is when I knew I was in trouble. I continued to be passed up by others who seemed to be having a effortless ride...JERKS! I began to get annoyed with my body and even allowed thoughts of turining around creep in. Well, I finally made it back and then had to put on my running shoes and "pretend" I wanted to continue. 7 minutes up and 7 minutes back in running. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! My legs felt like a couple of cement blocks pounding the pavement. My breathing was heavy, I was sweating like a pig and overly tired!
Well I didn't quit. I don't always enjoy the training. I am not an athelete and never have been. I do this to continue the fight against blood cancers. The donations go directly to the Leukemia Lyphoma Society and you can help. I will work hard for your donations :) http://pages.teamintraining.org/az/wchtri13/sguzmannzd

Here we GO AGAIN!

I am fundraising for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society in memory of my Dad, Ubaldo!  To earn your donations I will be participating in a Olympic Triathlon on September 29th, 2013 in Westchester, NY.   1 mile open water swim, 25 mile cycle, 6 mile run.

I have been training for 4 weeks which consists of 2 days of swimming, 2 days of cycling, and 2 days of running.  Running is my Achilles heel.  I SERIOUSLY stink at it!

My first running practice I could only run 30 seconds at a time.  I AM NOT JOKING...I could barely breath let a lone get a sentence out.  My knees felt like they were going to detach from my legs and go home!  To top it off my Team is full of real athletes that can run without much effort.  I wanted to QUIT!  I thought "what are you doing Sylvia, you can't do this!!"  My thoughts quickly turned to my Dad and how hard he fought to stay with us.  So I put on my BIG GIRL PANTS and continued onward.

I am HAPPY TO SHOUT FROM THE ROOF TOPS that I am now able to run for 4 minutes straight with 1 minute walked  repeating for 2 miles!!!

Just like my 100 cycle ride my Dad helped me get through it!

A small part of my triathlon team after a cycling practice.

I would be grateful for what ever you can donate towards the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
